New Pew Cushions

Through a generous donation, we have had pew cushions for years but these cushions are reaching the end of their life. The Vestry has investigated local vendors as well as national vendors (who even came to measure our pews before providing a quote).

We were able to select one of the national vendors to create new custom made pew cushions. Then the hard work came in selecting the color. We solicited many perspectives. Our considerations were to select a fabric that coordinates with the current colors but doesn't limit us if we change the carpet in the future. We also wanted a fabric that would minimize visible stains that may occur. We settled on "Cordon Blue" and received a larger sample to take a closer look:

As you can see in the images above, the lighting does make a difference on the fabric. The fabric is woven with blue/green (that perfectly matches the carpet when you look at it up close), purple, and a lighter tan.

Our hope is that these cushions will be durable and long lasting to for many years for all the members and visitors to St. John's.

In order to make cost effective decisions, the Vestry voted to use funds set aside in memorial of Ted and Dorothy Bolding and their daughter Robin Kirschner. The difference in the total amount and the memorial is about $900. We are currently collecting contributions from those interested in donating. Two weeks ago, we made the announcement about collecting funds and we already have $520 collected. Some families requested to know the "per pew cost" and that is $45 -- though we certainly have no expectations on specific amounts being donated per individual or family.

The cushions are currently being made and we are anticipating delivery later this summer -- we will keep you posted on their arrival and would love to have many folks come test them out upon delivery!
